Poll Results: Crossroads Redevelopment and Tax Duplication Biggest Issues to Residents
Crime was a close second.
The votes are in and the people have spoken. After an incredibly unscientific poll about the biggest issue facing the new Takoma Park City Council, there was a tie.
Tax duplication and development in the Takoma Langley Crossroads were the most important issues. Each answer got 38 percent of the vote.
Crime was the most important issue to 23 percent of poll voters and no one voted for Takoma Junction as the most important issue.
Tax duplication and development in the Takoma Langley Crossroads came up quite a bit in the election debate and were both big campaign issues, even for those not running in Ward 6, where the Crossroads converge.

Are there documents available to the public which address the tax situation, our part, the county's part and if either party has not kept their part of the bargain?

Per the mayor's comment re taxes: " If we get that problem fixed, I think the enhancements that we provide will be much clearer, and acceptable."
Just how BIG is the IF?
Since you assumed the position as mayor several years ago, how many "councilmember hours" have been spent researching, discussing and meeting with city officials on this issue?
Are we being too polite to the MoCo Govt Officials? Are there repercussions to the community if we take this issue like a dog does a bone and really chew on it with them?
The only thing saving some of us from losing our homes is the Homeowners Tax Credit.
How many owners are eligible for the credit and not using it? As the economy continues to suffer, if we had a drive to make sure all eligible residents applied for it, would TP have enough in its coffers to pay the bills?
