Pepco Giving Away 1,000 Trees in Montgomery
The program is designed to save energy through strategic planting.
Pepco is offering up to two free trees for customers who sign up between now and Nov. 12.
The utility announced that it has partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to provide 1,000 trees to customers in each of its three service areas: Montgomery County, Prince George's County and Washington, D.C.
To reserve a tree, customers must visit the foundation's website and enter their address and account number. From there, you can map your house and select trees that maximize your home's energy-saving potential. The online tool will also estimate how much money you can save on your power bill by planting the tree.
Pepco will disburse the trees on a first-come, first-served basis. The utility will deliver each two- to four-foot tall tree at its ideal planting time later this fall.

Yes, the trees were the problem with the power outages recently. In my
community, the only trees which have been trimmed to avoid possible
power outages were on the main street thru our community and on Puller
where a commercial for PEPCO was filmed. Is there some collustion here for
future work to be done or not? Sounds to me like PEPCO really does not have our best interest in mind or at heart.
