Patch Picks: Boutiques

Check out these local shops.

Amano - 7034 Carroll Ave.

Amano is the kind of boutique tailored for Takoma Park. The store specialized in upscale bohemian clothing that comes from socially and environmentally conscious brands.

Now and Then - 6927 Laurel Ave.

This Old Town boutique is a staple of Takoma Park. It sells everything you don't really need, but desperately want. Don't miss the spring bonnet display through Mother's Day or the Pajama Party every December.

Polly Sue's Vintage Shop - 6915 Laurel Ave.

It's not used, it's vintage. And Polly Sue's offers slightly loved clothing for men and women. They also have vintage accessories.

How do you choose these shops, anyway? Why not a mention of the Ice Cream shop that makes it's own ice cream (who else does that in this area) and sells bagels from H&H, the best bagel shop in NYC? And how about The Magic Carpet? No other shop has as large and eclectic a selection of gifts.

Ron - Thanks for this note. I didn't include the ice cream shop because boutiques usually mean clothing or knick-knacks. I do love the ice cream there though. Like I said in story, the list is not comprehensive and I welcome reader input.
