Montgomery County Council Seeks New Member for Board of Appeals

Deadline for application is Dec. 5.

The Montgomery County Council is looking for applicants to fill a partial term on the Montgomery County Board of Appeals.

The Board of Appeals holds all-day weekly meetings each Wednesday and work sessions every other week, deciding issues such as: Applications for special exceptions; appeals from decisions made by other Montgomery County government agencies and variance requests from Zoning Ordinance development standards. Board members work approximately 15-25 hours per week, and are compensated $14,510 annually (except the chair, who receives $20,508.)

While county law states that no more than three members of the same political party can serve on the board, the current make-up (one Republican, two Democrats and one who declined to affiliate) will allow for a candidate from any political party.

The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5. Applications must include a letter expressing interest, plus a resume with professional and civic experience. Applications should be addressed to Council President Roger Berliner, County Council Office, Stella B. Werner Building, 100 Maryland Avenue, Rockville, MD 20850.

Names and resumes of applicants will be made public.
