Knock on Wood Tap Studio Moves to Takoma

The previous studio was in Silver Spring.

Silver Spring's well-known tap studio Knock on Wood lost its lease on its long time space last year. But what's Silver Spring's loss is Takoma Park's gain. The studio will be opening up in its new digs Sept. 19 just across the D.C. border at 6925 Willow St. NW in Takoma.

Knock on Wood, which has been around since 1994, will serve students of all levels and age groups, specializing in rhythm tap, a form of percussive dance.

Classes are available for children from age 3, teens, and adults.

Founder Yvonne Edwards, who is a native Washingtonian has been dancing, teaching and choreographing for over 50 years, according to the studio. She has taught master classes at the International Conference of Black Dance in Atlanta, the Chicago Human Rhythm Project and at the New York City Tap Festival, as well as throughout the mid-Atlantic region.
