Why go: Check out the largest agricultural county fair in Maryland; features farm animals, rides, food and entertainment.

Kids Day: Costumes, Games and Family Fun
Where: Briggs Chaney-Greencastle Farmers and Artisans’ Market in northeast Silver Spring, located at 3300 Briggs Chaney Rd.
When: Saturday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m.
Why go: Tons of fun for the whole family! The festival will feature a costume parade, so wear a costume to be entered to win. Games, puzzles, activities, artists, face painting, a hula hoop contest and a watermelon-eating contest. Professional jazz musician Benjamin Sands will lead kids in a drum circle. Plein air art projects will also take place.

Our arts and craft vendors will be selling jewelry, photographs, health and beauty products, knitted items, quilts, purses, woodworking items, yard art and more!

Laugh Out Loud with Fuddy Meers at Art Barn
Where: The Arts Barn, 311 Kent Square Rd., Gaithersburg.
When: Aug. 10 through 26, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
Why go: Fuddy Meers tells the story of Claire, an amnesiac who awakens each morning as a blank slate. As she attempts to regain her memory one morning, she is abducted by a limping, lisping man who claims her husband wants to kill her. This sets off one harrowing and hilarious turn after another as Claire spends the day trying to decipher her fractured life while being surrounded by a group of alarmingly bizarre characters.
“Like the resourceful chef who turns leftovers into haute cuisine, Mr. Lindsay-Abaire blends clichéd ingredients into something savory and distinctive…[a] dark, sweet and thoroughly engaging comedy," The New York Times reported.
Price: General admission is $16 ($14 for Gaithersburg residents).

When: Saturday, Aug. 11, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Why go: Calling all sports enthusiasts! Hear from specialists and athletes and learn about key muscle groups to improve your performance while preventing injuries. Watch medical illustrators paint on athletes’ bodies to reveal key muscles and bone structures. Featured will be an anatomical art demonstration that will literally illustrate how a horse and rider’s bodies must work in tandem to achieve maximum performance.
Price: Free.
Where: The Puppet Co., 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo.
When: Saturday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m.
Why to go: Burlington the Bear, Bingo the Dog and a clown named Gus are just a few of the delightful characters under the Big Top! The Tiny Tots program is designed for our youngest theater patrons, ages 0 to 4. The lights stay on, the doors stay open, and everyone has a great time!

UkeFest 2012: Uke and Guitar Summit
Where: Strathmore Music Center, 10701 Rockville Pike, North Bethesda.
When: Saturday, Aug. 11, through Tuesday, Aug. 14, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Why go: What if you could learn to play music on the ukulele quickly and easily, while having tons of fun? The Uke and Guitar Summit at Strathmore's UkeFest puts all the elements together: great teachers, great music and the greatest instrument ever invented for making musicians out of ordinary people. This year, UkeFest embodies the Aloha spirit with a Hawaiian theme.
Price: $275 to $300.
Where: Westfield Shopping Mall in Wheaton, Westfield North office building, 2730 University Blvd. West.
When: Saturday, Aug. 11, and Sunday, Aug. 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why go: There are great bargains and low prices for customers. Vendors selling art, crafts, antiques, collectibles, jewelry, furniture, photos, pottery, vintage clothing, posters, postcards, household items, tools, silver, linens and other items are welcome.
