Does the Red Line See the Most Metro Weekend Work?

A Greater Greater Washington post ranks the top 10 rails under construction.

While it might seem like the Red Line is always slowed by weekend track work, a Greater Greater Washington study found Montgomery County's portions of the line aren't even among the top three most under construction segments of the transit system on weekends.

Greater Greater Washington blogger Matt Johnson reviewed the work that Metro has performed on weekends between May 1, 2012 and April 30, 2013, and found that tracks between the Orange Line’s East Falls Church and West Falls Church stations were completely closed 10 weekends and running trains on just one track on another 13 weekends.

Orange Line work at those stations has been primarily due to the construction of the Silver Line, Johnson wrote.

In second place, is the section between Stadium/Armory and Cheverly, also on the Orange Line, with 19 weekends affected by work.

The Green Line between College Park and Greenbelt is the only location in Montgomery County or Prince George’s County in the top three most worked-on, totaling 18 weekends of disruption, partially due to the testing of new Metro cars.
