Delegate Heather Mizeur (D-District 20) has not ruled out a gubernatorial run in 2014, according to an article in the Baltimore Sun. She told the Sun reporter, “I’m keeping my options open relative to the 2014 race. I’m not ruling anything out.”

The story went on to detail one of Mizeur’s recent speaking engagements at the Mount Ennon Baptist Church in Clinton, MD, urging the crowd of 1,000 to “contact their lawmakers and tell them to oppose a deal that would allow a casino in southern Prince George’s.”

Mizeur shared her opinion that, “There are so many ways to create jobs in this state that lift us up and not tear us down." The Sun article characterizes Mizeur as one of the most vehement gambling opponents in the Legislature.

The Sun speculates that should Mizeur enter the Democratic primary, she would likely face Attorney General Douglas Gansler, Comptroller Peter Franchot, Lt. Governor Anthony Brown and Howard County Executive Ken Ulman.

Mizeur’s current plans, says the Sun article, are to focus her energies on re-electing President Obama and “winning approval at referendum of laws permitting same-sex marriage and in-state tuition for the children of legal immigrants.
