Har har, Jeff. You know perfectly well all the anti-immigrant crap that's spewed on this site. Most of which is based on nonsensical claims about how county crime is through the roof even though it's been going down year after year after year. It's a sad and pathetic tactic used by American racists and xenophobes for generations, including by the Klan against my Irish immigrant ancestry.

Thank you! I was thinking it too, but since I already hit another post (white girl from Chevy Chase caught for armed robber in G'burg -- c'mon!), I figured two posts is too many.

Seriously, why does Patch look like the WTOP comments so often?

@Jag
Yes.....there is alot of anti-immigrant feelings on this site, yes there are alot anti-immigrant feelings everywhere. This article concerned a reduction in crime and that's always a good thing. I don't think they listed the crimes commited according to race, maybe hispanic crime went down, black crime up, and white crime topped them all..........who knows.....maybe it was the reverse.

Now the claims of higher crime from certain folks might very well correlate with where that person lives who's making that claim, through their eyes it might be a valid claim or at least a problem, do we discount those feelings?

Leggett and the Police recently had a community meeting in Montgomery Village to help address the "rising" crime in that area and from what I have read, it's mostly being commited by hispanic folks.

I guess the question could be, if you live in Montgomery Village and crime is rising and most of the crimes are being commited by hispanic folks, is it racist to say "most of the rising crime in my neighborhood is being commited by hispanic folks."

The Klan was indeed against Catholic's, not so much against the Irish in general. Heck, there were Irish Brigades on both sides in the Civil War, in particular at the Battle of Fredericksburg.

Your Irish ancestors in general hated blacks and hispanics......we've come a long way......but we aren't there yet!

The stats are BS. We live in Bethesda and our two cars get broken into 10 -15 times per year (mostly in summer). MCPD discourage reporting these incidents and once asked my wife, "what do you expect us to do about it?" Nasty, stupid and lazy is not what you want in a police force.

LOL, you're joking, right? 15 times a year? I've lived in Rockville and Silver Spring for 26 years and have never even known anyone who had their car broken into in MoCo, much less had my car broken into. If you're not joking, then you should set up a camera or something because obviously someone you know is targeting you for some personal reason. There is literally no chance of you randomly being broken into 15 times a year (for multiple years??), even if you lived in the junkiest neighborhood in America and were dumb enough to leave an expensive GPS out.

@William
That stinks William. Sounds like you are in the proverbial "no man's land". Are the D.C. police helping at all?

@William Grove - in case you missed this article in the Post - http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/crime/amid-rash-of-car-break-ins-dc-zeroes-in-on-a-repeat-offender/2012/03/06/gIQA7hdk3R_story.html

If the break-ins are that persistent you and your neighbors need to get together and put pressure on the police to fix the problem. As the article states, there are only a handful of thieves who car break-ins. Catching and prosecuting those thieves to the fullest extent isn't going to happen without some outside influence.

Mr. Grove,

You should consider moving to a lower crime area.
