Colesville Man Charged With Capital One Robbery

Police charge a 28-year-old man with armed robbery saying he stole cash from Capital One Bank.

A 28-year-old man from Colesville has been charged with one count of armed robbery in the Dec. 12 robbery at Capital One at 13301 New Hampshire Ave.

Montgomery County police from the 4th District responded to a robbery report at the bank around 5:30 p.m., police said. Detectives said a male suspect went to a teller counter and gave a note to the employee, demanding money and implying that he had a knife, even though no weapon was seen. The man left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Police said they arrested Jomo Crawford, of Autumn Drive in the Colesville neighborhood of Silver Spring, at his house without issue. Detectives attained a search and seizure warrant to look through his belongings and police said evidence related to the crime was found.

Polcie said Crawford admitted to his involvement in the robbery. He is being held on bond and awaits a January court date.
