Bikeshare Could Come to Takoma Park

A public meeting will be held Nov. 29.

If you're looking for more biking options in Takoma Park, then let your voice be heard.

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation will be discussing bikeshare options at several Montgomery County Metro stations along the red line, including Takoma Park, at a meeting Nov. 29 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the lobby auditorium of the Executive Office Building at 101 Monroe Street in Rockville.

The county wants the public to provide comments on a bikesharing initiative proposed for an area stretching from the District of Columbia line to the Beltway along both Montgomery County portions of the Metrorail Red Line, including Takoma Park, Silver Spring, Forest Glen and Wheaton on the eastern metrorail leg, and Friendship Heights, Bethesda and Medical Center along the western portion, according to a news release about the event.

The county is seeking input on bikesharing locations as part of a grant application to the Maryland Department of Transportation for a bikesharing system.
