There were more thefts from autos this August in Takoma Park than there were in both 2011 and 2010 during the same period of time.
There were 20 incidents this month.
In August 2011 the city had 14, and in August 2010 it had nine, according to Takoma Park Crime Analyst Andrew Gucciardo.
In the series of break-in, most suspects entered vehicles through unlocked doors. Windows were broken in three cases, a door lock was damaged in one case, but opened unlocked doors led to thefts in 13 cases.
