DEADLINE EXTENDED: Call for Applications for the 2012 Ida F. Haimovicz Visual Arts Award

Please note that the deadline has been extended to Friday, May 4 at 5:00 pm.

The Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County (AHCMC) seeks applicants for the 2012 Ida F. Haimovicz Visual Arts Award. This award will be given to a high school senior graduating in 2012 from any public or non-public high school in Montgomery County, MD.

The Haimovicz Visual Arts Award will be given after a juried selection process that is based upon the artistic merit of the applicant’s original work and the applicant’s potential for a visual arts career. Along with a $3,000 cash prize, the recipient will also be awarded a solo exhibition at the Betty Mae Kramer Gallery and Music Room in the Silver Spring Civic Building in June 2012. The deadline has been extended and applications are now due no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, May 4. Financial need is not a basis for this award.

Now in its fourteenth year, the Ida F. Haimovicz Visual Arts Award was established by the family of the late Ida F. Haimovicz to create an opportunity for a high school senior in pursuit of a visual arts career.  Past winners include Daniel Toretsky (2011), Aaron Kuhn (2010), Elena Hutchinson (2009), Brooke Kao (2008), and Hannah Wides (2007). The application and more information can be found at www.creativemoco.com/haimovicz.
