The Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County (AHCMC) seeks applicants for the Fran Abrams Creative Writing Award. This award will be given to a high school senior graduating in 2012 from any public or non-public high school in Montgomery County, MD.

The Abrams Creative Writing Award will be given following a juried selection process that is based upon the artistic merit of the applicant’s original work and their potential for a career related to creative writing. Along with a $1,000 cash prize, the recipient will also be awarded a public reading of his or her work at the Betty Mae Kramer Gallery and Music Room in the Silver Spring Civic Building on June 12, 2012. The deadline has bene extended and applications are now due no later than Thursday, May 10 at 5:00 pm. Financial need is not a basis for this award.
